As
the warm weather rolls around, so are the ways people look to travel this
summer, including by water.
A survey of 250 American Express Travel Counselors
showed that 32 percent of customers will seek out a cruise this season, and
while many will opt for huge ships and premium cruise lines, about 36 percent
of their customers are seeking river cruises.
Value remains a key factor, the
survey revealed, with 43 percent of the counselors saying discounts are most
effective in getting their clients to book a cruise, with 25 percent preferring
on board credits. Other results: 43 percent of customers want on board credits
when cruising, while 20 percent prefer a stateroom upgrade. The counselors also
said theyve noticed a cruise booking increase this year, and are seeing the
average cruise length span seven nights.
