Sandals to build overwater villas at Royal Caribbean resort

The Sandals Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay will begin construction in July on five over-the-water suites on the private Sandals Island.

Construction is slated for completion in six months, according to Adam Stewart, CEO of Sandals Resorts International.

Each 1,400-square-foot villa will feature a glass floor, a soaking tub, a king bed, flat-screen TVs in the bedroom and living areas, exterior dining space and a built-in hammock over the water.

The project has been under consideration for three years, Stewart said.
