Cruises: Always pack this one simple thing in your cruise ship luggage

One use is to remove lint from clothing. Get the sticky side up, wrap the non-sticky side around your hand and brush it over the item to remove hair, lint, fluff and other particles.

This is a nifty trick to help smarten up your clothes – especially given travellers aren’t allowed irons on board so could also be battling creases.

For another spot of DIY on your wardrobe, duct tape can mend torn hems – just place a small piece beneath the fold should a hem unravel.

Duct tape can also help seal curtains in case they don’t cover up your window completely and you are sensitive to light when you sleep.

For this, do check with your cruise line that it’s acceptable as some ban adhesives on doors and surfaces as tape can love a sticky residue.

Similarly, duct tape can be good for dealing with an annoying shower curtains that cling to you – use it to keep the curtain at bay, the cruise website recommends.
