Dream honeymoon turns into a nightmare after newlyweds were promised a lavish villa with their own private pool – but the reality was VERY different

A couple’s dream honeymoon turned into a nightmare after they claimed to have arrived at their villa to find stained bed sheets and a river of rubbish next door.
The Australian newlyweds expected tranquil, well-appointed accommodation when they booked to stay at the hotel in the Bali tourist resort of Kuta.
Villas at the hotel are priced online for as little as $30 a night, but the couple paid $2,850 for a week-long stay including flights when they booked through a travel agency.

But when they arrived, the couple suspected the sofa was still covered with cigarette burns, while an inside water feature contained dirty water (pictured) and no fish

Photographs of the hotel advertised online showed a pristine pool with an elegant open-plan living area.
The couple Sharni and Kalvin claimed their hopes were quickly extinguished though when they walked into the villa to find exposed wiring, dirt-covered furniture.
‘Some of the walls were starting to have cracks and loose wires, and just the complete opposite to what we were promised,’ Kalvin told A Current Affair.

To make the situation worse, the couple claimed the odour from a river filled with rubbish behind the hotel was wafting into the villa.
They also claimed the sofa was covered with cigarette burns, while an inside water feature contained dirty water and no fish.
‘I couldn’t stand it, it was making me upset, so we had to just get out that night,’ Sharni added.

The couple could not get through to their travel agent back in Australia, and ended up paying out $1,300 for alternative accommodation on the Indonesian island.
‘After all that drama, we ended up having a good time, enjoying ourselves,’ Kalvin said.
The travel agent said they did not receive the complaints until the couple had already relocated to another hotel.
‘We sympathise with the customer and are sorry they were unhappy with their experience… and we no longer offer the property,’ a spokesman for the agent said.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted the hotel and travel agency for further comment.
