Companies partner to offer river cruise/biking vacations
AmaWaterways and tour operator Backroads have partnered to
create river cruise itineraries that include Backroads’ biking, walking and
hiking excursions.Â
The alliance begins this year on 20 Danube River
sailings and will be expanded throughout Europe and Asia in 2016.
For 2015, Backroads and AmaWaterways have created an eight-day
Danube River bike tour, which includes several bike and walking excursions
throughout a sailing from Prague to Budapest. Travelers will be given the
option to bike through the Black Forest and Bavaria, participate in walking
tours and cycle along the river.
Travelers who book the Backroads experience on AmaWaterways
will get an allocated trip leader, titanium bikes, support vans, and flexible
itineraries with a range of cycling routes suited for different abilities.
In 2016, AmaWaterways and Backroads will introduce a number
of new tours along the Rhine, Rhone, Seine, Douro, Garonne and Mekong rivers,
and Backroads will have an exclusive full-ship charter of the 158-passenger
AmaViola on Sept. 8, 2016, for an eight-day Danube sailing from Prague to
Budapest.
Pricing for the Backroads river cruises starts at $5,398 per
person, based on double occupancy.
