The island’s Butterfly Beach Hotel took the award for Favourite Affordable Hotel; and The House, by Elegant Hotels, Barbados tied with Rendezvous Resort, St Lucia for Favourite Boutique Hotel.
Best Destination for Nature Holidays was Trinidad and Tobago. St. Lucia was right behind.
Best Destination for Heritage and Culture Holidays was Cuba, followed by Barbados;
Best Destination for Spa Holidays was St. Lucia, with Barbados in runner-up position; and St. Lucia also took Favourite Luxury Hotel with a win by Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort.
The winners were celebrated at the annual Caribbean Ball yesterday evening.
“It is great that Telegraph Travel readers have recognized that the Caribbean tourism industry has worked very hard to meet the ever changing needs of the UK traveller, from helping to organize the perfect honeymoon to specific packages for a family beach holiday,” said Carol Hay, the marketing director (UK and Europe) of the CTO, who presented the awards along with broadcaster Simon Reeve.
“These awards are just one way of congratulating the members for their outstanding efforts. We believe that the region will go from strength to strength, continually improving and meeting the needs of future travellers to the Caribbean.”
