Behind the scenes of Celebrity Cruises’ new 90-second film
“Without the luxury of a location scout, we had to trust fate and we figured out the orientation of the town after puffing and sweating up and down the steep narrow streets and knocked on a door and the old lady we’d imagined answered!
“Not only that, but her balcony was suspended on the edge of this dramatic ridge.
“She and her husband, who’d lived in the house for 50 years, were unruffled by the arrival of a film crew, even when we hovered a drone in front of their window and presented them with two lemons and instructions to cut them on the balcony!
“It was one of our favourite moments – call it serendipity if you will, but to see what we’d imagined reflected in reality raised a smile in all of us.”
Langenheim managed to persuade the ship’s captain to appear in the final scene on Celebrity Cruises’ signature space The Lawn, which has real grass and is used as a picnic spot.
“He certainly looked the part as he reclined on a picnic blanket; it was easy to forget that he was responsible for the entire ship, with 3,000 passengers on board,” says Langenheim.
“Meanwhile our drone pilot was sweating as he tried to manoeuvre the drone in a headwind at 11 knots.
