We are going to answer now to two main questions:
– How many hours do I have to work?
– How much will I earn?
To answer the first question, we have to do a little example: the Au pair job is a real job, which is placed in a sort of balance between the cultural exchange and a normal working condition.
Considering what has just been written, you cannot exceed 45 hours per week and, in general, 10 hours a day.
You are entitled to 1.5 days off per week and a weekend off per month.
If the agreement is for one year, you are entitled to have a two weeks paid vacation by the host family.
In conclusion you have the possibility to extend the term of the collaboration for another year.
As regards the pay we have to say, first of all, that the food and accommodation are the responsibility of the host family.
The compensation varies from country to country, in general in Italy is around 250-300 Euros monthly. You will have the same salary in Germany and France, while in countries such as the UK pay is weekly and amounts to about 80 pounds.

The collaboration aims to establish a particular relationship that should go beyond the mere work experience, creating empathy and affection between the girl and the host family.
