New website devoted to small-ship cruising

Two
cruise writers have begun a website called QuirkyCruise.com that is devoted
to small-ship cruising.

The site is organized into five basic ship
and cruise styles — oceangoing, river cruises, coastal cruises, sailing ships,
and expedition cruises. It is limited to ships carrying fewer than 300
passengers.

Created by journalists Heidi Sarna and
Ted Scull, the site has details on more than 350 vessels as well as cruise
line and destination overviews, feature articles, news items, top-picks lists,
and photo galleries.

One article on the site runs down the authors’
list of the 10 quirkiest cruises. It lists ships such as the Aranui 5
passenger-freighter operated by Compagnie Polynesienne de Transport Maritime and the three-masted,
33-passenger Dutch schooner Rembrandt Van Rijn, sailing for Oceanwide
Expeditions.
