Experience the Magic with Kerala Tour Packages

Kerala also called the “God’s Own Country” falls nothing short of this magnanimous tag. I had always wanted to visit Kerala but the real experience proved to be far more enthralling and enriching than I had ever imagined. Having gone through many of the Kerala tour packages, I settled for one that could satiate my curiosity to the maximum and which could allow me the liberty of drowning myself in picturesque Kerala.

My Experience

I toured the magical land of Kerala in the month of August. I arrived at the Kochi airport and stayed in the city for a day to explore it. Kochi is a city that has myriad influences from the different people that came here and left their mark; be it the Arabs, British, Dutch, Chinese, or the Portuguese. The main attractions are its not so crowded and serene beaches and its spell-binding architecture are an invigorating sight. On the suggestion of my gracious hotel staff, I explored Fort Kochi on a bicycle. Some of the places I visited were Jewish synagogue, Indo Portuguese museum, Santa Cruz Basilica and the Fort Kochi beach. I was even lucky enough to be able to witness a Kathakali recital at the Kerela Kathakali Centre, not far from the Basilica. Also, I got a good deal on a few antique jewellery pieces and silk fabrics, as gifts for my near and dear ones.

The following morning I left for Munnar. This is a destination which you will find in most honeymoon Kerala tour packages. Apart from being one of the most beautiful hill stations of Kerala, Munnar is the place where Neelakurinji blooms every 12 years. Although, I was not able to witness it but to be a part of that environment in itself gave me a thrill. I also visited the Kannan Devan Plantation Museum. Personally, I would recommend a taste of the locally grown tea to absorb the real taste of the hill station. I also visited the Eravikulam National Park which is home to several species of rare butterflies, birds and animals.

The next morning I proceeded to Thekaddy. Thekaddy is one of the hill stations in Kerala that boasts of a well-endowed wildlife sanctuary. I took a spice tour around Thekkady and then I went to visit the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. The Periyar jungle ride gives entails lovely view of the Iddukki town, the lush greenery, the Mullaperiyar Dam, the sprawling vineyards and if you are lucky then you can witness the lion macaque as well.

My next stop was Alleppey, one of the major highlights of Kerala Holiday packages. The one thing that defines Alleppey are the backwaters. Not only did I experience the magic of staying on a houseboat but I was also lucky enough to witness one of the most famous snake-boat races. I felt rejuvenated by an Ayurveda massage that I took in Allepey. They say that a Kerala tour without Ayurveda is incomplete and I now see the truth in those words of wisdom.

Next day, I flew back to New Delhi from Kochi airport with a memorable experience. The one thing that I enjoyed a lot during my visit in Kerala was the food. The taste of Appam with stew and the Kerela prawn curry will be etched in my mind for a long time. Truly, there’s a different thrill in bearing witness to the magic of God’s own country.
