New Price Plan For Wi-Fi On Selected Thai Airways International Routes

Announcing the move, THAI said the more affordable price plan for its onboard Wi-Fi would offer passengers more opportunity to remain connected during their flights.

 

The THAI Sky Connect service is available on 13 of THAI’s aircraft: the six Airbus A380-800 which operate flights to Paris, Frankfurt, Narita, London and Hong Kong; and the seven Airbus A330-300 aircraft operating to Narita, Taipei – Seoul, Hong Kong, Taipei, Yangon, Beijing, Hanoi, Dubai, Ho Chi Minh City, Haneda, Kuala Lumpur and Fukuoka.

 

THAI notes that the Wi-Fi signal may become temporarily suspended while overflying some countries, such as Vietnam and India, during which usage and cost is not counted.

 

The THAI Sky Connect serviced is now priced at US$4.99 for 5 MB, US$8.99 for 10 MB, US$16.99 for 20 MB and US$24.99 for 30 MB. It is paid for during the set-up process either by credit card or debit card.

 

Passengers can use THAI Sky Connect on their laptop, tablet or smart phone while in flight. The internet access ends with the flight and a summary of the service purchase is sent to a passenger’s e-mail address.

 

President of Thai Airways International, Charamporn Jotikasthira, said the airline decided to cut the inflight Wi-Fi service fees to show gratitude towards it clients who had given the service a warm welcome after it was launched in early 2014.

 

To use the THAI Sky Connect service, the passenger enables Wi-Fi on their device, selects the “OnAir’ hotspot, launches the web browser to register and then selects the preferred price plan and makes the purchase. The passenger can then access the internet during their flight.

 

Well aware of today’s demand among travelers to stay connected while they journey, THAI is also offering passengers flying round trip between Thailand and Japan a special Pocket Wi-Fi rental rate in conjunction with SAMURAI Wi-Fi, which they can use to stay connected while in Japan. SAMURAI Wi-Fi is an unlimited and high-speed internet connection with 24-hour customer support.

 

When they book online flights from Thailand to any of THAI’s Japanese destinations, they qualify for the rental rate of THB100 per day for a usage period of one to four days, THB200 per day for the fifth to seventh day and THB100 per day for the eighth day onwards.

THAI passengers need to contact SAMURAI Wi-Fi directly to register. The Pocket Wi-Fi offer runs until 31 December 2015 but can be used until 31 March 2016.

 

Through THAI’s website passengers can book international flights from Bangkok to the destinations of Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sapporo. As well as flights from Bangkok to Frankfurt, flights from Bangkok to Copenhagen, flights from Bangkok to London and a host of other points in the Thai flag carrier’s global network.
