Tsim Sha Tsui Hotels An Ideal Choice For Hong Kong's 2016 Chinese New Year Parade
Each year tens of thousands line the streets of Tsim Sha Tsui to watch the parade, a dazzling spectacle of local and international performers that transforms the habourfront area into a giant outdoor street party.
In 2015 the Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Night Parade saw around 150,000 pack Tsim Sha Tsui’s streets for the 20th annual parade.
The 2016 Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Night Parade is scheduled for 8 February 2016, which is Chinese New Year’s Day, and it promises the usual fantastic spectacle.
Those staying at a hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui can choose from among the leading design-led boutique hotels Hong Kong offers. These trendy Tsim Sha Tsui hotels have appeared on the scene in recent years and have been instrumental in helping the Tsim Sha Tsui area develop into the stylish and bustling entertainment, shopping and dining district it is today.
Situated on the opposite side of Victoria Harbour from Hong Kong Island, Tsim Sha Tsui is a thriving tourist enclave where the streets are packed with all manner of shops, restaurants and glitzy department stores.
The area is also home to half of the attractions on the ‘Top 10 Hong Kong Attractions’ list that features on the Hong Kong Tourism Board website. These are the Ladies’ Market, Temple Street Night Market, Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple and the Clock Tower.
At the forefront of the design-led hotels in Tsim Sha Tsui and a landmark in the accommodation sector is Residence G Hong Kong (by Hotel G), or Residence G as it is also known. Ideally located on Austin Ave within walking distance of the shopping and entertainment core of Nathan Road and the MTR (Mass Transit Railway), it’s a great choice of Tsim Sha Tsui hotel.
A defining feature of the property is its 43 guestrooms. These are stylish, modern and functional with a range of appointments that includes high speed wireless internet, I-Pod docking station and plasma TV. They come in the chicly-named categories of Good, Greater and Greatest, the latter being a spacious loft-style penthouse.
Facilities at Residence G Hong Kong (by Hotel G) include the all-day Scarlett Café Wine Bar and the exclusive-access G-Club open-air terrace for cocktails and mingling and where there are also co-work stations enabling plug in for work or surf. Secretarial services are available on request, as are DVD players and portable kitchen facilities and utensils.
While it is ideally located in Tsim Sha Tsui, Residence G’s proximity to the MTR also means other Chinese New Year festivities around Hong Kong can be easily reached. And Hong Kong is indeed one of the great destinations in which to celebrate Chinese New Year, as people visit temples to pray for good fortune, walk through festive markets and admire the bright red lanterns which adorn the city.
It is important to note that most government offices, banks and public utilities close for the Chinese New Year public holidays in Hong Kong. However, most shops and restaurants in the busiest districts remain open, and some shopping malls may extend their service hours. Major attractions, theme parks and public transport operate as usual.
Street markets and stalls usually close on the first and second day of the Chinese New Year (8 and 9 February in 2016) and resume business from the third day.
