Travel Tip: Cruise Lines Continue to Build More Ships

princess_cruiseThere’s been a growth explosion in the cruise industry, and this can only benefit you.

Right now, cruise lines are building new ships at a record pace.

Every shipyard around the world is at full capacity and 57 new cruise ships are still being built.

These ships are of every size and pedigree, and some are being built for specific markets, such as China.

It’s called new tonnage.

But what about the old tonnage? Those ships aren’t going away.

Most cruise lines are spending significant money to renovate and refurbish them—and the numbers seem to be holding up.

This year, while 1.2 billion travelers will cross an international border, how many people will be cruising?

Just 24 million—a small fraction of the total number of passengers.

It seems the new shipbuilding may outpace demand, and you know what that means: great deals and packages for cruisers.

It also means new ports, new destinations, and more creative shore excursion possibilities.

So if you want to take a cruise, in about six months you’ll definitely be the beneficiary of a buyer’s market.
