It’s now time to anticipate—and then celebrate—the off season as well as the storm season, especially in the Caribbean.

Think June through October, and then book accordingly.

Yes, the thermometer may be hotter by about eight degrees.

But the crowds are gone, the weather is great, and so are the deals.

Worried about hurricane season?

It seems to start earlier and earlier each year, but a careful look at the map and some equally careful advance planning will protect you.

Buy trip cancellation and interruption insurance if you’ll be traveling to typical hurricane targets.

These range from the Bahamas to Jamaica in the Caribbean and Bermuda in the Atlantic.

Remember, all you need to do is buy that insurance before a storm is officially named.

Or head even further south outside the historic hurricane belt to Aruba, Grenada, or Barbados, and you should be fine.
