Carnival sends Pride to New York instead of Caribbean

Carnival Cruise Line sent the Carnival Pride to New York
this week instead of the Bahamas, leaving some passengers unhappy with the
change.

The Baltimore-based ship was rerouted due to the disruption
and uncertainty of Hurricane Matthew, which is currently forecast to track
along the U.S. East Coast.

The Pride was sent to New York and initially was to make a
second stop in New Brunswick, Canada, but now will depart New York on Wednesday
to arrive in Baltimore ahead of the storm.

Passengers quoted by New York television stations complained
they hadn’t packed properly for the change and didn’t like being docked in New
York for two days.

Carnival offered them a $250 onboard credit and half-off a
future cruise. Passengers were also offered a full refund if they cancelled
prior to departure.  The cruise had been
scheduled to visit Port Canaveral, Nassau and Freeport roundtrip from
Baltimore.
