Hurricane Matthew cruise crisis: Ship in Caribbean re-routed …

On the cruise line’s website, carnival.com, an update said: “Given the significant changes we have seen in the forecast track, we have not made definitive changes to any of our sailings departing this weekend.

“At this time, we do not anticipate making additional changes until Wednesday after 8pm.”

However passengers are expected to have the option of cancelling if they are booked on to Carnival Ecstasy’s Sunday departure from Charleston in South Carolina, which has already had its three Bahama port calls cancelled and replaced by Cozumel and two days at sea.

Carnival Pride is heading north to Baltimore rather than south to the Caribbean and Carnival Elation will visit Key West instead of Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas today and will miss the call at Nassau tomorrow, although it is expected to stop at Freeport in the Bahamas on Friday.

Carnival Corporation’s voluntourism ship Fathom Adonia, which is sailing from Miami to Cuba this week, missed its Santiago stop and is expected to go to Havana on Saturday before returning to Miami the next day.
