Omega World Travel Founder Gloria Bohan has been named godmother of Riviera River Cruises’ new five-star, all-suite MS Robert Burns when the ship is christened April 3, 2018, in Vienna. The MS Robert Burns will be the first ship christened by Riviera River Cruises in 2018 after the European river cruise operator launched four ships in 2017.
Riviera River Cruises is very supportive of the travel agent community, and the MS Robert Burns christening will be devoted to North American agents.
At the April 3 ceremony, Bohan, Riviera River Cruises’ first U.S. godmother, will be honored. Bohan founded Omega World Travel in 1972 and has transformed it into a global travel management company with annual sales revenues over $1 billion. Today, Omega is the largest woman-owned and operated travel management company. It includes Cruise.com, one of the largest online cruise agencies, and TravTech, a leader in online technology services.
Bohan’s list of accolades includes the Washington Business Hall of Fame, Executive Lifetime Achievement Award from the Executive Women’s Forum at TravelCom, American Society of Travel Agents’ Travel Agent of the Year Award, one of the 25 Most Influential Leaders in the Travel Industry by Tour and Travel News, one of the Most Powerful Women in Washington by Washingtonian Magazine, and the Lifetime Achievement Award and Doctor of Law from Marymount Manhattan College.
After the christening ceremony, the MS Robert Burns will depart on a FAM cruise from Vienna to Budapest. About 75 North American travel agents and VIPs will join Riviera River Cruises officials for the three-night cruise on the Danube River, disembarking on Friday, April 6.
“I wish to thank Riviera River Cruises for naming me Godmother of their newest ship, MS Robert Burns, named for the man known worldwide for composing ‘Auld Lang Syne.’” Bohan said. “I am very pleased to see Riviera’s support of the travel agency community, and I am looking forward to participating with them on this exciting inaugural. I wish Riviera great success in entering a new market, and in introducing more travelers to their five-star product and special services. It is indeed a great honor.”
“We’re honored to be naming Gloria Bohan godmother of the MS Robert Burns,” said David Clemson, Riviera River Cruises CEO. “Gloria is a pioneer in the travel industry, and having her as godmother and hosting North American travel agents at the christening reflects our continuing support of the travel agent community there.”
