Officials are cracking down on drug tourism in southwestern England. Not often thought of as a major drug-related or wild party destination, the UK has created a taskforce to address a growing issue of illicit drug sales in Avon and Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Devon and Cornwall, and Dorset. The crime unit Zephyr recently seized nearly $20,000 worth of heroin, $480,000 each worth of amphetamines and $75,000 worth of crack cocaine, and sentenced 11 suspects in the busts. Officials hope the recent arrests will serve as warnings to drug dealers and send a message that drug tourism will not be tolerated in the UK.
