Pearl Seas Cruises embarks on inaugural sailing

Pearl Seas Cruises, a new entrant to ocean cruising, said its inaugural 11-night sailing departed Baltimore on June 25.

The cruise will follow a Canada-New England itinerary. Although it is an ocean-going line, Pearl Seas intends to cruise close to the U.S. Coast and on inland waterways such as the St. Lawrence Seaway and the Great Lakes. In the winter, Pearl Seas plans to sail Caribbean cruises.

Its first vessel is the 210-passenger all-suite Pearl Mist.

Pearl Seas has the same ownership as the river cruise line American Cruise Lines. It was formed in 2006 with plans to launch in 2008, but a shipyard dispute delayed its debut.
