Travel Tip: Another Cruise Line Bans Smoking

It’s probably no surprise that smoking bans are becoming more commonplace…and now we’re starting to see regulations on international waters as well.

Carnival is the latest cruise line to ban smoking on cabin balconies, starting this October. The cruise line has already banned smoking in cabins and certain public areas.

However, smokers on board can still light up in designated open deck areas, and some sections of the indoor casinos, bars, and nightclubs.

Cunard, Disney, and Celebrity, among others, already ban smoking on balconies.

And Royal Caribbean implemented this rule earlier this year. Cigarettes and cigars are banned in most public spaces except for sections of casinos and some outdoor areas.

As for electronic cigarettes, those are only allowed in designated areas as well.

Not convinced you can make it through a cruise without lighting up? You can still smoke on cabin balconies on Holland America.

As of November 1st, Norwegian Cruise Line will change its smoking policies so that passengers smoke on stateroom balconies, and players can smoke in the casinos.

But no cruise line will let you smoke inside the cabin, so don’t even try…or you’ll be nailed with a fine of at least $250.
