Chris Lambton loves Hawaii, his wife, and his pillow
When he was a contestant on the reality show “The Bachelorette” in 2010, Chris Lambton traveled the world, visiting faraway destinations including Iceland, Portugal, and Tahiti. But for this Dennis resident, his favorite vacation spot is Hawaii, where two years ago he and Peyton Wright — who was a contestant on the 2007 season of “The Bachelor” — spent their honeymoon. We caught up with Lambton, 37, the Cape Cod landscaper who is the new host of “Yard Crashers” (which premiered on Aug. 25) on the HGTV and DIY networks, to talk about all things travel.
Favorite vacation spot? Hawaii. My wife and I went there on our honeymoon and island-hopped for a couple weeks and it was amazing. Such a romantic place. Maui was our favorite island, and we actually got to go back there again this past January. It really is paradise: clear water, fruity drinks, and lots of fresh sushi, which to me is paradise.

Favorite food or drink on vacation? It depends on where I am, but I love whatever is fresh from the area. If it’s by the ocean, bring on the sushi! As for drinks, I like sampling local beers.
Where would you like to travel but haven’t? I would like to go to Argentina. I speak a little Spanish and have heard great things about Argentina . . . great food, great people, and lots of outdoor activities.
One item you can’t leave home without when traveling? My pillow. I hate overstuffed hotel pillows. I don’t sleep well with them. My favorite pillow from home helps me to sleep better at night, and when you are traveling, a good night’s sleep is the most important thing.
Aisle or window? Aisle. I get to spread my legs out and walk around. I am an antsy flier and hate sitting still for long periods of time. You wouldn’t like to sit next to me on a long flight unless you are up for drinking the time away.
Favorite childhood travel memory? Our family trip to Saint John. We stayed in a hut in the rain forest. Five of us in one hut — three boys and our parents. I don’t know how they did it, but it was so much fun. My brothers and I woke up early every day, played on the beach, and swam till sunset.
Guilty pleasure when traveling? Drinking on the plane no matter what time I take off. I don’t like drinking alone, so I try to peer pressure the person sitting next to me to join in.
Best travel tip? Always be nice to the flight attendants. They have a tough job and are looking out for everyone’s best interest. Be nice to them and they will be nice to you.
