Mikumi National Park and Mahale Mountains Park

The article describes two wonderful destinations to visit in Tanzania, Africa.  These two places are perfect places to visit for guests coming to Africa on safari.  The two places are Mikumi National Park and Mahale Mountains National Park

This National Park lies 300 km west of Dar-es-Salaam and is the closest park to the capital. Relatively small (3230 sq. km) it is nestled between the Uruguru mountains to the East and the Rift Valley escarpments to the Southwest. Even though this is a small park, there is a border with the Selous Game Reserve, allowing movement of game and therefore Mikumi benefits from the highest game density of the entire conservation area, while still being easily accessible. Mikumi National Park is composed primarily of the Mkata River flood plain; this is surrounded by gently rolling hills covered in miombo woodland

Although less spectacular than some of the more illustrious Tanzanian National Parks, Mikumi still offers a good safari experience with typical flora and fauna of East Africa. There is a rich variety of bird species as well as large numbers of giraffes, buffaloes and elephants and close to the waterholes lions, leopards and hippos. Furthermore you can see zebras, wild dogs, pythons, hartebeest, wildebeest, elephants, impala, warthog, eland and other antelope. Several observation towers enable you to view the park in its entirety.

The second wonderful destination for guests visiting on holiday via African safari packages is Mahale Mountains National Park.  Mahale Mountains National Park is located in the west of the Tanzania, approx. 126kms south of Kigoma town, on the eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika. The park covers an area of approx. 1610 km². It is a remote park that can only be reaching by plane or boat. There are no roads and wildlife viewing is safely carried out on foot with a guide.

Chimpanzee tracking in Mahale is the main attraction and is always given high priority. Other wildlife you may see include elephant, buffalo, antelope, giraffe, leopard and lion, plus the park has recorded over 350 different species of birds.

Most people visiting Mahale Mountains National Park will also include a safari to Gombe Stream and Katavi National Parks, lying north and south of Mahale.

In conclusion, both the destinations described above are wonderful places to visit.  Guest should step out of their comfort zone and come and see the places and wild animals with their own eyes.  Here they will experience the best of Africa.
