The best exploration of Heaven Village-Kingdom of Plants

Heaven village is the second peak of the famous Dabie mountain, which is located in the junction of Anhui province and Hubei province. Judging from it name, you might have guessed this is a place with amazing natural views. So it is also known by other names such as The last primeval forest in eastern China , Kingdom of the Plants, and Seas of Flowers. Covering an area of 120 square kilometers, Heaven village is wrapped with lush forests, beautiful waterfalls, weird-shape rocks as well as rich biological diversity.

It is situated deep in Dabie mountain so the trip is pretty long and tough. The tour bus needs to drive on the winding mountain road for nearly three hours, but the views outside the window is quite something to look at, tall trees besides the road, with golden leaves lying on. Because the Heaven Village is on the watershed of south and north water systems, tons of majestic waterfalls form on the mountain. As the source of all creatures, abundant species of plants can be found in here. According to the botanists, there are more than 1900 or so plants in the Heaven village.

The moment you step off the bus, all the effort and tiredness of the China tripsis all worth it. In the distance, big mountains wrap small mountains, all so very green. Large area of various crop field stretch under the mountain foot, with different colors, red, green , yellow all intertwine together, painting the most beautiful drawing of the nature. Waterfall splashing, birds chirping, streams flowing, what a heavenly scene!

On the 1729 meters high peak, there is a pond called “Yaochi” and it never goes dry. Based on traditional Chinese folk story, Yaochi is the abode of fairy mother goddess. The most interesting part is the mountain top, one step away you could be standing on the earth of another province. The second high peak is called The White Horse Peak, somehow it kind reminds me of the prince charming. Maybe it’s cuz prince charming rides on a white horse. The white horse peak is wrapped with cliffs on all sides, creating a dangerous yet exciting views such as ” Horse tail sunny snow” and “Horse back sun setting”. Under the cliff, there is 6 kilometers long white horse valley.

Besides the refreshing natural views, heaven village also got allot cultural sites. In ancient times, this was a hot spot for peasant uprisings. They used to gather around here and talked about how to fight against the cruel ruling. Today some of the old uprising sites still can be seen on the mountain. Every April, there is a whole month of Happy mountain festival, with tons of entertainment projects like dragon light performance, folks songs singing contest, bonfire party, and others.
