As with the annual Telegraph Travel Awards, the results are qualitative not quantitative, so it does not follow that the most frequently visited islands stand a better chance of winning, ensuring that destinations such as Cuba and Trinidad Tobago were able to celebrate alongside the likes of St Lucia and Barbados.
