Mobile Travel Agent Expects “Huge Demand” for Mobile Cruises

Announcement of a Carnival Cruise ship coming to Mobile is exciting news for the travel industry. According to one local travel agent, cruising is the fastest growing area of travel in the world, he says the demand is there to book up these trips as soon as Carnival releases the dates for the upcoming excursions. News 5 talked with Steve Cape at Cape Travel. He says he gets questions daily about when a cruise line might return to Mobile.

Cape believes there will be a lot of demand for cruises out of Mobile. He says, “The great thing about having a cruise ship in your backyard is that it’s like an extra vacation you can take because the prices are great. Cruises are the best deal in the travel market right now. You can get a better deal on a cruise than you can get flying any day of the week.”

Cape believe the key is competition. He hopes Mobile can even land a second cruise line, to keep rates low, and the quality of the cruises high.
