Couples Who Do THIS Stay In The Honeymoon Phase FOREVER

For decades — centuries, actually — people have been searching for the secret to make love last. And as it turns out, the answer probably isn’t so far away.

In fact, it might come down to a single number: 2 … the 2/2/2 rule, that is. According to Reddit user ckernan2, the 2/2/2 rule is simple:

  • Every two weeks, go out for an evening.
  • Every two months, go out for a weekend.
  • Every two years, go out for a week.

Makes sense right?

If you’re still a skeptic, just think about it. Just because you and your significant other have been together for a while doesn’t mean you should stop dating each other. When you were dating, things were new and probably less stressful than things are now.

Going out every once in awhile can help you get that fresh, exciting feeling back. But that doesn’t mean you need to empty your bank account; there are plenty of inexpensive dates and getaway ideas.

We can’t promise it will solve all your problems, but so far it’s kept that Reddit user’s marriage in its honeymoon phase. So, isn’t it worth a try?

  • North River Lobster Company

North River Lobster Company is New York’s first (and only!) floating lobster shack – because it doesn’t get better than eating shellfish LITERALLY on the water. Due to their success last summer, they expanded their “boat shack” to three levels, thus accommodating 450 people (the boat setting isn’t TOO intimate if it’s a first date).

Offering some of the most breathtaking views of the New York City skyline and some of the freshest lobster in the city, North River Lobster Company is definitely a unique first date idea.

  • hudson clearwater

Hudson Clearwater is definitely an insiders-only spot – you have to go through a hidden entrance to get to the secret courtyard restaurant. The experience is like dining in a secret garden – only you’re in the middle of the West Village and there’s really good crispy duck.

  • Museum Mile Festival

Looking to get cultured (and a little bit of exercise) on your next date? Check out the Museum Mile Festival (this year on Tuesday June 9th). For one day, nine major museums on the Upper East Side between 82nd and 105th street are free and open to the public.

You can also mimic the festival on other days, simply walk up fifth avenue with your date and see how many of the museums you can hit.

  • Macari Vineyards

Try this for a day-long date: a trip to a vineyard WITHOUT having to travel to Napa Valley. You can take the LIRR to Mattituck, New York (the north fork of Long Island) and visit the Macari Vineyards or Martha Clara Vineyards. Both offer tastings and tours, perfect for a summer day.

  • Tequila Park Taqueria

Tequila Park Taqueria had us at rooftop margarita garden (HOW chic and romantic). Located in the heart of Hells Kitchen in the Hudson Lodge, the venue is filled with gorgeous garden greenery, giant watering can sculptures, and of course boasts an impressive menu of 40+ varieties of tequila.

All of that tequila will probably make you hungry, so it’s a good thing they offer innovative bites such as Sriracha Philly Cheesesteak Tacos and Shrimp Kimchi Nachos for you and your date to share.

  • Chelsea Piers Driving Range

We’ve decided to upgrade the classic mini-golf date from your high school days to a real golf date. Plan to go to Chelsea Piers Driving Range when the sun is setting and try to get on one of the upper levels (there are four), so that you can watch the sun set over the Hudson river while you ask your date to “help you with your form.”

During peak hours it’s only $25 to hit 90 balls, which is a pretty good deal for those of you who aren’t so familiar with golf.

  • The Ides at Wythe Hotel

If you and your date want to have a cocktail while taking in the NYC skyline, you’ll have to venture across the Williamsburg bridge to the Wythe Hotel. The Ides is located on the sixth floor of the century-old building and the drink prices are much cheaper than anywhere you would find in Manhattan.

If you go early enough, you and your date can get a good seat and watch the sun set over the skyline while sipping on an Old Fashioned.
