Tips And Tactics To Save Money During Your Bangkok Packages

Save yourself from unnecessarily parting with your hard-earned money in Bangkok with these simple tips and tactics:

Bargain, bargain and bargain again:

Bargaining about the price of any item or service being sold to you is not just accepted, it’s expected. This applies to shopping from street stalls, food stalls and even for taxi rides. The only place where you can give bargaining a break during your Bangkok packages is in malls and high-end shops. Most medium to small shops generally hike up their prices so they can bring them down and offer what appears to be a ‘good deal’ to foreign or tourist customers who may not know any better. Taxi drivers in Bangkok are infamous for overcharging, so make sure you settle on a suitable price before you hop in and dash around town. Better yet, insist on using the meter the whole way so you end up paying a fair price.

Ditch the road and travel by train:

Even if you’re going by meteror have somehow managed to land an honest cab-driver in Bangkok, rides from one point to another in the city can get really expensive due to all the traffic you’re bound to run into. Choose public transport instead. While buses may take a little longer but be cheaper, travelling by train will help you save both time and money. The public transport system in the city is quite good and you can opt for underground or above-ground trains that together cover quite a large portion of the city making commuting to different sites a breeze. Trains are a quick, easy and cheap way to travel around Bangkok and the system is quite user-friendly and doesn’t take too long to understand.

Stay safe from scams:

This is easier said than done since most tourists make for vulnerable targets in any foreign city.  It’s always best to rely on your intuition and common sense. If something doesn’t feel right, or someone doesn’t seem trustworthy, feel free to walk away. You’re never under any obligation to eat or shop at a particular stall or interact with people you don’t want to. One particular trick that is on the rise these days is to pose as a taxi driver cum tour guide who, while taking you to your destination, stops at various shops, recommending the wares of the establishment as the best in the city. They’re most likely overpriced and made of ordinary if not inferior quality materials.  The driver/tour guide is simply taking you to places that give him a commission for bringing in customers. It’s best to be aware and avoid such situations during your Bangkok packages.
