Book Your HK Accommodation Beforehand, Do Your Christmas Shopping While In HK

There’s no need to take up valuable luggage space with gifts and other festive necessities bought from home. Not with The 50th Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo and the 13th Hong Kong Mega Showcase offering plenty of shopping opportunities.

The 50th Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo is on at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay from 12 December 2015 to 4 January 2016. One of the largest outdoor expos in Hong Kong since 1938, this consumer expo features well-known brands from local and overseas designers and other quality products.

It’s open from 11 am to 10 pm from 12 December to 3 January and from 11 am to 8 pm on 4 January. Admission is HK$10, with tickets available at the venue. Children under one metre in height, senior citizens over the age of 65 and persons with disabilities are free.

The 50th Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo will feature over 880 outdoor booths, with the thematic zones of Hong Kong Brands Square, Food Beverages Zone, Grocery Noodles Zone, Ginseng, Dried Seafood Soup Packs Zone, Beauty Healthcare Zone, Fashion Stylish Products Zone, Living Household Zone, Food Plaza, Social Enterprises Zone, Promotion Zone and Trade Zone.

The 13th Hong Kong Mega Showcase is on from 24 to 27 December 2015 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This popular consumer fair features a myriad of products and items from houseware to electronics and motor accessories to luxury cars.

The event is open from 10 am to 9 pm on 24, 25 and 26 December and from 10 am to 7 pm on 27 December. Admission is HK$20, with tickets available at the venue.

On show will be over 1,300 booths with concurrent events the Hong Kong Car Show (New Edition) 2015, e-Expo, Hong Kong Homex and 13th Hong Kong Food Festival. The food festival will be extended to 28 December.

Admission is HK$20 per person from 24 to 27 December and HK$10 per person on 28 December, with tickets available at the venue. Children under 3 years old are free.

The Hong Kong Mega Showcase is categorized into 10 themed zones. These are the D.I.Y. Zone, Beauty Health Care Zone, Baby Kids Education Zone, Trendy Fashion Accessories Zone, Homeware Zone, Consumer Electronics Products Zone, Car Auto Parts Zone, Food Delights Festival and the recently introduced Books, Gifts Toys Zone and Hong Kong Pioneer Zone.

Both events’ venues are on Hong Kong Island and present few hassles in reaching from any of a number of hotels and serviced apartments in Hong Kong. Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is situated in the Wanchai area overlooking Victoria Harbour and Victoria Park is close by.

A good deal of Hong Kong serviced apartments and hotels are handy to an MTR (Mass Transit Railway) station. The extensive MTR network covers much of Hong Kong and places accommodation addresses on Hong Kong Island and Kowloon within a couple of stations of both the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and Victoria Park, while those addresses outside of the downtown areas such as in Tsuen Wan in the New Territories – home to the landmark Tsing Ma Bridge – are a convenient trip of 30 or so minutes.

Those who decide to try out a serviced apartment in Hong Kong for their stay will typically enjoy a comparable level of product, comfort and services as they would at a conventional hotel.

Take – as a fine example – Bay Bridge Hong Kong by Hotel G (formerly The Bay Bridge Hong Kong Hotel Serviced Apartments). Picturesquely situated on the Tsuen Wan coastline overlooking the South China Sea and Tsing Ma Bridge, this long popular Hong Kong serviced apartment recently underwent a refurbishment and now offers guests an ‘Urban Escape’ holiday experience.

It offers a choice of serviced apartment units ranging from the 440-460 sq ft Studio to the 800 sq ft Deluxe 1 Bedroom with Terrace. Facilities available to guests include a restaurant, fully equipped fitness centre, laundry and ironing room and – during the summer – an open air swimming pool with sauna rooms. There are weekly and monthly stay packages, while shorter stays are also welcomed.
