From LA to Mexico – Princess Cruises celebrates 50th anniversary

During the past five decades its initiatives have been adopted across the industry such as its top-deck film screen Movies Under The Stars.

It also had the first TV studio at sea, 24-hour dining and “anytime dining” where passengers can choose to eat when and with whom they want.

Innovations continue next year when the 3,092-passenger Emerald Princess will sail from Southampton to southern and northern Europe.

New features will include the restaurant SHARE, created by Australian celebrity chef Curtis Stone.

His salads, pastas and meat courses are brought to the table for everybody to share, with puddings a special treat.

Also new onboard Princess ships will be The Salty Dog Gastropub, with a menu that includes a signature burger, grilled pork belly and rib eye and short rib beef patties. Stanley McDonald named Princess Cruises after the ship Princess Patricia, which he used for that first winter season of Mexico cruises in 1965.
