Fort Wayne newlyweds spend honeymoon waiting out Hurricane Matthew
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WTHR) – An Indiana couple is in the Bahamas celebrated their honeymoon with an uninvited guest.
Kayla and Mark Jones flew to the Bahamas Saturday, not thinking Hurricane Matthew would wreak havoc in the middle of their trip. Instead, they found themselves weathering the storm alongside hundreds of others who took shelter inside their hotel.
“It’s, like, basically a big, giant ballroom. So there’s about 20 people per room and, as you can see, it’s just a bunch of people laying on little mats with blankets,” Kayla said.
The newlyweds say they tried to get a flight out before the conditions were too dangerous, but at that point, it was too late.
They hope to travel back to Fort Wayne this weekend.
