Second consecutive Carnival Liberty cruise canceled

Carnival Cruise Line scrapped
the Nov. 5 departure from Galveston of the Carnival Liberty, saying it had been
unable to fix a persistent propulsion problem.

It was the second straight
canceled Liberty cruise. The Oct. 31 departure was scrubbed, too.

“We had hoped to have
the issue fixed in time for your sailing tomorrow,” Carnival said in a
letter distributed to passengers on Nov. 4. “Despite our team’s best
efforts, the work is taking longer than expected,” the letter said.

Guests on the second canceled
cruise will get a full refund of the cruise fare and pre-paid items, plus a
100% credit of the cruise fare toward the purchase of a future cruise.

The canceled sailing was a
five-night western Caribbean cruise. The next Liberty voyage is scheduled for
Nov. 10.
