Norwegian schedules Guy Harvey conservation cruise: Travel Weekly
Norwegian Cruise Line will host a seven-night ocean
conservation theme cruise in October in partnership with the Guy Harvey Ocean
Foundation and Nova Southeastern University’s Guy Harvey Research Institute.
Harvey, a nautical artist and ocean conservation specialist,
painted the hull on the Norwegian Escape, a ship that sails from Miami.
On Oct. 21, the Escape’s eastern Caribbean itinerary will be
augmented by conservation activities.
Events will include an “introduction to sharks”
discussion with Dr. Mahmood Shivji, a professor and research scientist from Nova
Southeastern University’s Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography,
and a presentation by videographer and producer George Schellenger, who
documents Harvey’s research and exploration expeditions.
There will be a father-daughter session in which Harvey
takes guests through a photo tour of his childhood in Jamaica, and Guy’s
daughter Jessica tells tales about growing up on, and under, the water with her
father.
