The VIP Lounge with Jackie Bradley Jr.

Jackie Bradley Jr., starting center fielder for the Red Sox, lives in Naples, Fla., in the offseason with his wife, Erin, and their 13-month-old daughter, Emerson. The Richmond, Va., native has been with the Sox since 2013. We caught up with Bradley, a fan of Antigua and Barbuda who wants to get to Australia and New Zealand one day, to talk about all things travel.

Favorite vacation destination? Antigua and Barbuda. We went there on our honeymoon [in 2013, at right] and stayed at a very nice all-inclusive resort [Sandals]. Obviously on a honeymoon you want to do it up big, so we had a very nice room, our own personal butler, and it was just a great experience. That was my first time getting to actually vacation and not think about work or anything else.

Favorite food or drink while vacationing? I don’t have to vacation for this food: anything strawberry cheesecake. I love strawberry cheesecake.

Where would you like to travel to but haven’t? Australia and New Zealand. I’ve always heard great things about them. They’re far away, so they’re probably destinations I won’t get to very often, so I just want to experience them.

One item you can’t leave home without while traveling? This is going to sound like a guy answer, but a wallet. Also ChapStick. I feel like I’m always licking my lips because they get chapped so often.

Aisle or window? The window because I’m able to look out if I want to, I’m able to control how bright it is, and if I want to sleep, I can lean toward the window.

Favorite childhood travel memory? Disney World. I went twice. It was a little church vacation. We went down there with people from my church and my family — my mom, dad, my younger brother, Dominique. I was 11 when I went the first time. The ride I remember the most was the Tower of Terror. It wasn’t my favorite, but it sticks in my mind the most.
