“Arrive a half-hour to an hour before embarkation ends, and you’ll find few people and no, or few, queues. 

“Maybe you missed an hour of onboard time, but you also missed an hour of standing around doing nothing.”

She went on to advise that having a transfer plan will also help ease the boarding process. 

If transfers are not included in your holiday, sourcing taxis last minute could be problematic will fellow passengers likely to be doing the same thing. 

Silverstein said: “Do your research and make a plan for your airport transfer in advance. Often, the cruise line shuttle buses are slow, crowded and expensive.”
