Hurricane Florence: Full list of flight and cruise changes as 1.5 million evacuate

The UK Foreign Office has issued a warning ahead of Hurricane Florence.

They advise: “Hurricane Florence is forecast to bring life-threatening weather conditions to North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, with potential effects in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and eastern Georgia.

“Conditions in affected states are likely to include widespread flash flooding, storm surge in coastal areas, and strong winds capable of damaging property and infrastructure.

“The storm is expected to make landfall as a category 4 hurricane on the morning of Friday, 14 September, centred on the coast of North Carolina. Those in affected areas should monitor local and national media for updates.

“Follow the advice of local authorities in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland the District of Columbia and Georgia including any evacuation orders, and monitor news and social media for more information.”

The National Hurricane Center tweeted the key warnings of what can be expected, including “life-threading storm surges,” “catastrophic flash flooding” and “damaging hurricane-force winds”.

President Donald Trump tweeted: “Just had calls with South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, and Virginia Governor Ralph Northam regarding the incoming storm. Federal Government stands by, ready to assist 24/7.”
