ST Travel meets… the founders of travel adventure company Pelorus

I have always loved adventure. I did eight years in the British Army and three tours, two in Afghanistan and one in Iraq. I set off for Iraq only three days after commissioning from Sandhurst.

I then became an expedition manager for a medical research expedition to Everest, called Xtreme Everest 2. I had to manage the transportation of 14 tonnes of equipment to Nepal and the building of three labs. The doctors were looking at the effect of altitude on the body — it’s similar to being in intensive care.

Another job was as a tour manager for Manchester United. It involved arranging a US tour with five games and 142 commercial appearances over 18 days.
