‘Britain’s new £346m cruise ship proves our sense of adventure has never been stronger’
On Friday afternoon, in the hazy sunshine of Dover’s newly redeveloped Western Docks, I was treated to a facsimile of that most British of traditions, the Royal Garden party. The assembled throng – dressed to impress – were all guests of Saga, the British-owned company specialising in products and services for the over-fifties, and we’d been invited to witness another British institution, the Duchess of Cornwall, as she performed her duties as godmother to Saga’s brand new Spirit of Discovery ship.
