Venice tourist crackdown: How protestors block waterways to stop cruise ships

“But as the protesters continue their rearguard action the cruising behemoths keep on coming.

“These maritime monsters make hundreds of trips to Venice and for Marco Baravelle, one of the protests’ leading lights, even one is too much.”

Mr Baravelle went on to explain his main issues with the cruise ships.

He said: “I would never go on a cruise even if I won it as a prize, honestly.

“To me, it’s the most stupid way to visit the world.

“But this is, this is up to the people to decide and they are also, I think, the most arrogant expression of the mass tourism industry.
