THOMSON Cruises’ new winter 2014/15 shore excursion programme is now on sale and holidaymakers can browse and book excursions online before travelling – with advance bookings offering great savings on the on-board price.

Sailing from Montego Bay in Jamaica, the brand new home port for Thomson Dream, means that cruisers can experience some exciting new tropical destinations, with no other UK or US cruise line offering as many Havana visits and no UK cruise line with as many Mexican ports of call.

With new ports of call added, globetrotters can now experience the beautiful country of Belize, and excursions added to the new port of call mean guests can go on a historic airboat adventure tour at the Almond Hill Lagoon for a chance to take in the scenery and exotic wildlife, choose to see the Lamanai Temples or even try some cave tubing.

With Pointe-a-Pitre in Guadeloupe added as a new port, guests can take a panoramic tour of the Butterfly Island or a tour of the uninhabited Caret Islet to explore, swim, sunbathe and enjoy Caribbean music and cocktails.

Puerto Limon is also new this winter, so guests can have a nose around Costa Rica’s sloth sanctuary which is also home to a range of other interesting animals, or enjoy a trip through the rainforest via aerial tram.

Another must-see is the Panama Canal and cruisers can choose to ride alongside the canal via the famous Panama Canal Railway and touch two oceans in a day, or, take a boat ride through a section of this famous waterway.

Other amazing sights and adventures available include Dunn’s River Falls in Jamaica and a trip to the amazing Chichen Itza Mayan Ruins from Cozumel in Mexico – one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Along with the traditional favourites, Thomson Cruises aims to offer something a little bit different, from a sightseeing tour with an open bar and traditional Afro-Colombian music on a decorated open-top Chiva bus in Columbia to an adventure treasure hunt-style race in St Maarten.

Helen Caron, managing director of Thomson Cruises said: “As with all of our excursions, we’ve hand-picked some great new additions to the winter 2014/15 programme, which we’re confident our customers will enjoy.

“We’re very excited for the Thomson Dream to move to its new home and begin the Jamaica programme meaning that our customers can visit the likes of Cuba, Costa Rica and Panama to experience some amazing excursions such as the Panama Canal tour and Sloth sanctuary rainforest tour in Costa Rica.

“Our excursions are very popular and often sell out, so allowing customers extra time to plan ahead and book their excursions before they’ve even left home ensures they get to experience everything on their ‘must-see’ list for their cruise.”
