Travel Highlights in Fuyang
Wen Feng Tower
Wen Feng Tower is a sole-brick octagonal architecture with seven floors. It is 31.8 meters high. In each floor has a central chamber. The north door is the entrance and tourists can climb spiral staircase to the tower. Four arched doors in four directions are constructed in the first, third, fifth and seventh floor, while three doors in South, West and East, in the second, forth and sixth. The tower is one with dense caves and wood brackets supporting crossbeam. Its style is simple yet solemn.
Wen means literature and has Taoist connotation.Some brick carvings are significant, such as auspicious Deer Emblem, Felicitous Plant, Dragon, Phoenix, Carps Leaping through the Dragon Gateway and the pattern of Yinyang Fish.
Tien Jing Palace
The palace is surrounded on three sides by Guo River (another famous river along with Yangtze River where you can take Yangtze River tour) and one side by Long Mountain. Therefore, this place is secluded and pleasant. The palace is first constructed in 165 AD, the eighth year of the Emperor Huan of Eastern Han Dynasty. It was called Lao Tzu Temple then because the Emperor Huan dreamed that Lao Tzu came to the palace. The emperor ordered to build the temple in Lao Tzu’s hometown. The palace is reconstructed both in the third year of the Emperor Wendi of Wei Dynasty and in the first year of the Emperor Wendi of the Sui Dynasty.The Tang Dynasty had Lao Tzu as its ancestor and respectfully names the Palace as the ancestral temple. Though it was constructed in a large-scale style and became one most splendid temple with large halls and fancy pavilions, unfortunately it was almost ruined in series of wars.
Chang Guan Mosque
It was built in 1753, during the reign of the Emperor Wanli of the Ming Dynasty and remained for 420 years until now. At that time, it was used as a place of worship for Muslims in Chang Guan Town (an optional destination for China travel deals). A horizontal inscribed board, ‘Ancient Mosque’ is hanged above the main door; another one ‘Acting by Reasons’ is in the second floor; still another, ‘Abiding by Reverence’ in the north hall. A calligraphy pair is suspended in the main hall, writing ‘Despite His incorporeity , the existence of everything embodies the true face of God; though unfathomable, fortune can be seen through solely by one’s reason at heart.’ In 1983, the local government had the Mosque taken on an entirely new look with earmarked loans.
Fuyang West Lake
Fuyang West Lake is 5 kilometer in length and 1.5 kilometers in width. In ancient times, it was the confluence of of four rivers, including the Ying River, Qing River, Small Ru River and Bailong Ditch. Due to the change of name as Yingzhou after Northern Wei Dynasty, the lake was called Ying Zhou West Lake. The Lake has been a historical interest since the Tang Dynasty. Near the lake stands tens of architectures such as ‘Old Friends Meeting Courtroom’, ‘Crystal Ripple Pavilion’, ‘Painted Boat Studying Room’ and so on. Besides there are water chestnuts and lotus in the lake and willows are lined with riverbanks. After the Tand Dynasty. Fuyang West Lake enjoyed the equal fame with Yangzhou Slender West Lake and Hangzhou West Lake (must-see for China Photographing Tours ).
Due to the permanent beauty of Yingzhou West Lake all the year, this place attracted numerous men of letters and high aspiration. Moreover, it became a tourist attraction for writers who left hundreds of widely-read poems and proses.
