Justin Theroux Nearly Died on Bora Bora Honeymoon With Jennifer Aniston

Their wedding was the start of happily ever after for Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux. But the fairytale almost ended after a near-death experience during their honeymoon.

During an appearance on Live with Kelly and Michael, Theroux shared the harrowing tale of how he nearly drowned while scuba diving during their vacation in Bora Bora.

According to Theroux, he had taken some scuba diving lessons, and felt confident in the water. However, on the second day, they were joined by a new French scuba diver instructor whose English wasn’t very good.

After the group dove down pretty deep, Theroux realized that his oxygen tank was on red. He tried to alert the instructor, who didn’t seem too concerned.

“I swim over and start tapping on the thing and showing it too him,” Theroux explained. “He’s just like keep swimming, keep swimming.”

As his oxygen continued to dissipate, Theroux got more concerned. Finally, the instructor grabbed his emergency respirator and stuck it into Theroux’s mouth. While this was supposed to provide relief, it actually sent water shooting down the actor’s throat.

“So now I’m coughing and hacking underwater,” Theroux said.

“You’re brain goes to this crazy place. You’re like, Oh my god, this is a plot to kill me on my honeymoon.”
