Seven of the best new cruise ships for 2016

Koningsdam: This is the first new ship for Holland America since 2010 and will be launched in Amsterdam this April. It will spend summer in Europe and the Mediterranean followed by winter in the Caribbean. Koningsdam is the first of a new class of ship for Holland America Line, known as Pinnacle Class, and a sister ship will be launched at the end of 2018.

A mid-sized ship, with 2,650-passenger capacity, Koningsdam will have a culinary arts centre, digital workshop, fitness centre and Lido pool covered with a domed retractable glass roof – the venue for outdoor evening films as well as daytime sunbathing.
