2. Mall of America. If you are a shop-a-holic, don’t miss seeing the largest mall in America. Located in Bloomington, this shopping center boasts an indoor amusement park, aquarium, roller coasters, and permanent exhibits. Some of these exhibits include the original Barbie Dreamhouse. Along with these attractions, you can find famous artifacts and memorials such as a United Airlines Flight 93 Memorial and an original stadium seat from Metropolitan stadium, which was located where the mall was built.
3. National Eagle Center. This facility offers visitors the opportunity to get up close and personal with the national bird. The center is home to 5 rescued bald eagles. With plenty of other animals to see, it’s one museum you don’t want to miss. It is complete with other wildlife, exhibits, and large observation decks so that visitors can get a better view of the eagles and their habitat.
4. Minneapolis Institute of Art. Admission to this museum is free, as well as to most of the events that are held here. 5. Aerial Lift Bridge. Built in 1905, this historic bridge is a major landmark in Duluth. It connects Minnesota and Wisconsin and is one of two bridges of its kind to be built in the United States. It can be raised up to 135 feet in about a minute, making it a fun sight to see for anyone who loves boats and bridges.
6. Lake Superior and the Maritime Visitor Center. Located in Duluth, this visitor’s center is one of the most-visited locations on the Great Lakes. Be sure to stop by and get an up close look at the marine life located in the lake. Plus, you’ll also get a closer look at different lenses once used in light houses. Free to visitors, this is one museum you don’t want to miss.
7. Glensheen. Located on the coast of Lake Superior, this beautiful mansion was built by the Congdon family in 1908. This 39-room mansion features bridges, gardens, and unparalleled craftsmanship. Many of the belongings you’ll notice in the museum are original to the home and its owners, and have been in the house for over 100 years.
8. Split Rock Lighthouse. This historic landmark was originally constructed in 1905 when a series of shipwrecks occurred along this rugged landscape. It was later restored to its original appearance and opened as a museum. By venturing inside, you will be transported back in time and receive a glimpse of what lighthouse life is really like.
