Royal Caribbean wants to pay an intern to travel the world this summer

Royal Caribbean UK has a contest for an internship to cruise around the world and take Instagram photos. Elizabeth Keatinge (@ekeatinge) has more.

Some interns slave away working long days for zero pay. Others earn a paycheck by traveling the world for free.

Royal Caribbean UK Ireland is currently in search of an Instagram user, aged 21 and up, who wants to embark upon the Ovation of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas, and Freedom of the Seas this summer.  The lucky winner will debark at various ports in New York, the Caribbean, Asia and the Mediterranean, including Beijing, Barcelona and New York. 

The three-week job, which pays £3,000, or roughly $3,700, will consist of three consecutive weeks of cruising between June and July 2017. 

To qualify, applicants must own a smartphone and demonstrate the “ability to capture stunning views, extraordinary experiences, beautiful sunsets and amazing stories on social media.” They also must possess “extensive knowledge of all 23 filters.”

The judges who will choose the temporary hire include Travel Weekly editor-in-chief Lucy Huxley, Irish travel blogger Johnny Ward and Royal Caribbean UK Ireland vice president Ben Bouldin.
