Q We are getting married in September and would like to go to St Lucia for our honeymoon, but we are worried that it will be the hurricane season in the Caribbean. Can you offer any advice or suggest any alternative destinations where the weather will be good in September or early October? We’re looking for a small hotel somewhere tropical with a white sand beach and can spend up to £12,000 for up to two weeks, including flights and food.

A St Lucia is south of the main hurricane belt so rarely has a hurricane or tropical storm in September or October. You can expect rain, but it doesn’t last long, and you should get plenty of hot sun too.
