Most of the entertainment onboard is complimentary, from Rock Of Ages in the theatre and Burn The Floor in the Manhattan Room to Escape The Big Top magic show and The Second City comedy.

Paid-for evening entertainment options are the Cirque Dreams Dinner Jungle Fantasy – dinner followed by acrobatics ($47.19 per person) – and Wine Lovers The Musical – a musical comedy about the joys of wine while wine tasting and enjoying lunch ($29.44 per person).

But there’s a massive choice of free onboard activities for sea days or for those who don’t want to get off.

Deck 17’s Aqua Park has five multi-storey waterslides, two swimming pools and four hot tubs, and there’s a Kid’s Aqua Park with a slide and shallow pool.

The fitness centre has a free gym with paid-for yoga, pilates and spinning classes, and the sports complex has a ropes course and The Plank – a ledge extending out to sea.

For children aged three to 12 there’s Splash Academy, a well-equipped play room over two decks, and for teenagers from 13 to 17 there is Entourage – a chic adult lounge without the adults.

Bars and lounges include Fat Cats Jazz Blues Club, with a New York City feel, Bliss Ultra Lounge for clubbers, Maltings Beer Whiskey Bar for those who like pubs and Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville at Sea for those who like margaritas.
