Viking Is Launching Another Around-the-world Cruise

Viking Cruises has announced its second world cruise scheduled for January 2019. The Viking will sail the globe for 128 days, spanning five continents, 21 countries, and 44 ports, with 10 port overnights.

Viking’s first ever world cruise is scheduled to depart in December 2017, so this second scheduling marks a trend of long, global cruises for travelers who want to see the world.

The new voyage will spend much of the season on the same itinerary as the maiden voyage of Viking’s first world cruise, which departs from Miami. The ship will sail from Miami to London, allowing guests to explore South America and the islands of the South Pacific; calling upon ports in Africa, from Cape Town to Dakar, cruising the Strait of Magellan, the Tasman Sea, and the Indian Ocean before concluding back in London.

“We offer itineraries that are designed for explorers, and our World Cruises are the most extensive and culturally immersive journeys available in the industry. Our first World Cruise is 100 percent sold out, and we are pleased with the initial response to our second World Cruise itinerary among new and returning guests,” said Torstein Hagen, chairman of Viking Cruises, in a statement.

Throughout the cruise, guests will receive a breadth of cultural experiences that travelers usually can’t pack into one vacation. Guests can visit the famous Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, the Moai stone head statues of Easter Island, and safari in Mozambique all in one trip.

A booking on a Viking World Cruise costs $49,995 per person, which includes Business Class air travel, transfers to and from the ship, all gratuities and service fees, complimentary visa service, free luggage shipping services, and Viking’s Silver Spirits beverage package.

From now through September 30, 2017, each guest who books will also receive $2,000 in shipboard credit, which can be used toward tours, spa services, onboard shops, and beverages. Viking Explorer Society members also receive an additional $1,000 in onboard credit.
