Royal Family honeymoon destinations revealed | Travel News …

The Mediterranean

Another romantic destination, Prince Charles and Lady Diana chose to sail the Mediterranean on the Royal Yacht Britannia after their wedding in 1981.

Boarding at Gibraltar, they spent two weeks cruising around after spending two nights at Broadlands, the country estate owned by the Mountbatten family.

Sadly their honeymoon was less happy than Prince William and Kate’s, with secret letters from Diana stating it was the perfect trip to “catch up on sleep”.

The Azores

Prince Andrew, 57 and Sarah Ferguson, 58, headed to the Azores Islands near Portugal after marrying in 1986.

They spent five days sailing aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia, visiting many of the islands in the area.
