Judge approves former state rep’s honeymoon travel request

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A former state representative convicted of DWI has revised a request to leave town for her honeymoon after being denied the first time. This time she got what she wanted.
Monica Youngblood was convicted of DWI in October and given one day in jail and one year of probation.
Earlier this month Youngblood was accused of chugging water before mandatory urine tests, which made them invalid.
A judge had the option to revoke her probation, giving her 90 days in jail. Instead, he ruled she has to take one urine test a week until March, restricting her ability to travel.
She asked for three weeks off to go on a honeymoon, but Judge Kevin Fitzwater denied the request. Wednesday, her attorney filed a motion to let her leave for one week.
The judge approved the request, which allows Youngblood to go on a one-week honeymoon.
