Disney Cruise Line adds Greece to summer 2020 plans, expands Disney Fantasy options
Disney Cruise Line’s plans for summer 2020 include Disney Magic in Europe, Disney Wonder in Alaska and Disney Dream and Fantasy sailing out of Port Canaveral.
On the surface, it’s business as normal, but the big news for Europe is the line’s return to Greece after a five-year hiatus. And for those who have wanted to try out Disney Fantasy, but not spend seven nights on the ship, the summer Caribbean and Bahamas options have a spate of shorter cruises available.
For Disney Magic, five new ports are on the manifest and a longer sailing season. They are Messina, Italy as part of two Mediterranean voyages in the early summer and then Gdynia, Poland, Nordfjordeid, Norway, Plymouth, England and Zeebrugge, Belgium as part of the late-summer shift to northern Europe for Baltic, British Isles and Norwegian fjord sailings.
The return to Greece will be part of three Mediterranean options sailing from Rome. One 12-night and two nine-night sailings will visit places like Piraeus, Katakolon, and island stops Santorini, Mykonos and Crete. One of the sailings will also return to Dubrovnik, Croatia.
Disney Wonder will once again sail from Vancouver on Alaska sailings with stops in Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, Icy Strait Point and Dawes Glacier.
For Bahamas and Caribbean sailings out of Port Canaveral, Disney Dream will continue short itineraries, but not just three- and four-night options. Some will be five-night sailings and some will feature two stops at Disney’s private Bahamas island Castaway Cay.
Disney Fantasy normally limits sailings to seven-night eastern and western Caribbean options. For summer, the ship will also partake of three-, four- and five-night Bahamas sailings as well, some with multiple days at Castaway Cay. Some of its Caribbean itineraries will be five- and nine-night options.
Disney Cruise Line’s fleet of four ships will grow by one in 2021 with the first of three new ships on order to be delivered in 2021, 2022 and 2023. No details on their names or itineraries has been released, although some design and size details have. They will be slightly larger than Dream and Fantasy. Port Canaveral officials have said that at least two of the three ships will call Port Canaveral their home port including the first one in 2021.
